Our Dance program is constructed in levels.  Most genres follow this system:

  • Level 1: Creative Movement (ages 3 – 4)
  • Level 2: Ballet/Jazz I (ages 4-6)
  • Level 3: Ballet/Jazz II (ages 5-6)
  • Level 4 – 8: Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Clogging (most begin at age 7, students are placed by teachers by age and skill level)

Contemporary dance classes are focused on presenting a visual message of God’s love through movement. This style of dance combines elements of jazz, modern, lyrical, and classical ballet in order to produce fluid, flowing movements. Dancers explore a range of body movements, sometimes contorting their bodies in unusual ways. Students will also develop confidence in their own movement through exercises of personal improv and contact improv, which are the stepping stones to choreography. The goal of the dancer is to express the music in a way that draws the audience into the dancer’s emotions.
