Ballet

Our Dance program is constructed in levels.  Most genres follow this system:

  • Level 1: Creative Movement (ages 3 – 4)
  • Level 2: Ballet/Jazz I (ages 4-6)
  • Level 3: Ballet/Jazz II (ages 5-6)
  • Level 4 – 8: Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Clogging (most begin at age 7, students are placed by teachers by age and skill level)

Ballet technique is the foundation of almost all other styles of dance (jazz, liturgical, modern, etc.). In ballet, dancers train their bodies to perform precise and flowing movements in turned-out positions, which become the technical basis for other dance forms. We instruct in the classical styles of Cecchetti and French ballet. The dancer can expect a very structured class, beginning with work at the barre and ending with combinations across the floor using the positions learned in class.
