PERFORMANCE FAQ’s

If you have other questions, check the General FAQ page or contact our office staff.

Cinderella Ballet | Alamance Fine Arts Studio
Is my child required to participate in performances and productions?

We are a performing arts studio. All students, except those privately instructed, will participate in performances. We present a winter dance concert, an end-of-the-year art exhibit, and occasional extra dance performances. When theatre classes are available, we will share theatre productions as well.

All of these dates are noted on your Event Calendar and updated on our website. Please mark your calendars at the beginning of the year, so that you will not accidentally plan vacations, business trips, etc. on any of these special dates. Class time is used to prepare students for the performances and productions. As these dates approach, we will provide you with more specific information.

May I take pictures of my child during performances?

No photography or video is allowed during performances but is welcomed during rehearsals. A professional video will be offered for sale for every end-of-the-year dance and theatre production.

What is ″Call″ in relation to a production?

“Call” is the time the performers need to arrive for a production. If your instructor says, “Call is at 6:00”, that means you should arrive at 6:00.

What is the difference between ″rehearsal″ and ″dress rehearsal″?

Rehearsal means coming to the venue to practice the production piece on the stage on which it will be performed.

Dress Rehearsal means to come in full costume and makeup to the rehearsal.

What should be worn for rehearsals and productions?

Rehearsals: Unless otherwise directed by the instructor, dress and makeup for rehearsals should be the same as regular classroom requirements. (See the dress code.)

Dress Rehearsals: Unless otherwise directed by the instructor, students should come to dress rehearsals in full costume and makeup.

Productions: Students will be shown in class what their costumes will be for productions, and depending on the class, costumes will either be sent home or kept at the production venue. If costumes are sent home, students are to arrive at the production venue in full makeup and costume (unless otherwise directed). If costumes for a performance are being kept at the venue, the instructor will have them ready for the student upon arrival.

If a productions runs over a meal time (lunch or dinner hour), should food be sent?

Yes, you may send food, but we ask that it be finger food that cannot spill or stain, and that students either do not eat while in costume, or drape a towel or large shirt over their costume before eating.
