Mission & Vision
Rejoice! Dance Ministry, founded in 1993, provides gifted young women opportunities to experience God through ministry in dance. Rejoice! focuses on raising up new spiritual leaders in the performing arts world and teaching the true meaning of the gift of dance, inspired by John 4:23, “But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him.”
Class & Time Commitment
Regular class time: Tuesdays 7:30-8:45 p.m. and one Saturday morning a month.
Performances: fluctuates depending upon season and bookings.
Pre-requisite and Mandatory classes:
- Ballet technique
- Liturgical with Heather (after taking 2 years of liturgical, it is no longer mandatory)
- Modern; Jazz; or Stretch, Turn, Leap
Rejoice! members are selected through audition only. For the audition, the dancers are asked to choreograph and perform a solo of at least one minute in length, and give a written essay, including a testimony about their relationship with Christ and reasons why they want to join Rejoice!. They are also taught a short dance combination to test their ability to learn choreography in other dance genres.
All Rejoice! members must have a strong foundation in ballet technique in order to perform well in the various types of dance we present. Because a strong ballet technique is required, at least one year of Level 6 (or above) ballet is a prerequisite for the audition. Rejoice! auditions are open to Level 6 and above students, ages 13 and up.
